Cawder Hall Cottages – Yorkshire, Skipton, UK.
For affordable self catering accommodation within a rural Dales retreat.
Until 1953 Cawder Hall Cottages was incorporated into the Skipton castle estate. It was then sold off to raise vital funds and continued as a working farm. Farm workers from Ireland used to stay at Cawder Hall cottages and earn their money through the harvesting time. Whilst renovating one cottage we found they had written their weekly wages on the wall.
Each of our cottages has housed farm animals over the years including Bull Beef and reindeers! So when it came to renovating each cottage this had to be done in a very sympathetic manner which enabled us to retain the exposed Yorkshire stone and Oak beams and keep the main individual character of each dwelling.
The Boskin and Mistal are within our cobbled courtyard location. Here guests can sit and take in the breath taking scenery and experience some of the most amazing sunsets. The nights are very dark but there is an abundance of stars and often you can hear the owls calling.
The Barnloft has an elevated position which over looks the surrounding countryside where occasionally the odd sheep may bob’ over the wall to greet you. You can sit outside and enjoy your meal here or just laze on the grass with your favourite wine.
What ever your reason for staying with us you can be assured you will receive a very warm welcome. We have three generations now living on site and we are very family orientated. The chickens run freely around the place as the children did and now the grandchildren, what could be nicer.
We look forward to hearing from you soon when you make the ‘right decision’ in staying with us…..you won’t be disappointed!
